چکیده
Abstract Purpose The present study compared patients developing ASD after L4/5 spinal fusion with a control group using patient-specific statistical shape model (SSM) to find alignment-differences between the groups. Methods This included who had undergone at and either remained asymptomatic (control group; n = 25, follow-up of > 4 years) or required revision surgery for epifusional ( 22). Landmarks on preoperative postoperative lateral radiographs were annotated, optimal sagittal alignment was calculated each patient. two-dimensional distance from SSM-calculated optimum actual positions before compared. Results Postoperatively, additive mean 86.8 mm in 67.7 p 0.119). Greater differences observed groups larger ideal more cranial levels. Significant difference seen postoperatively vertical operated segment L4. (5.69 ± 3.0 mm) significant greater SSM as (3.58 3.5 mm, 0.034). Conclusion Patients requiring lumbar have an by modeling. Further research might help understand value SSM, conjunction already established indexes, planning aim reducing risk ASD. Level evidence I Diagnostic: individual cross-sectional studies consistently applied reference standard blinding

Sagittal spinal pelvic alignment.
The goal of any ambulatory patient is to maintain a horizontal gaze with the least amount of energy expenditure. With progressive deformity, and in particular sagittal malalignment, significant compensatory mechanisms must be used to achieve this goal. Each pelvis dictates the amount of lumbar lordosis required through its morphometric parameter pelvic incidence. The pelvis may compensate for d...
متن کاملSagittal spinal alignment and ambulation
A relationship between spinal deformity and ambulation is yet to be clarified. We hypothesized that undesirable spino-pelvic alignment affects walking ability. The purpose of present study is to clarify an influence of spinopelvic alignments on walking ability. Consecutive patients who visited our institution between October 2011 to September 2012 were retrospectively surveyed. The cases of neu...
متن کاملMinimally invasive lumbar spinal fusion.
Minimally invasive techniques for lumbar spine fusion have been developed in an attempt to decrease the complications related to traditional open exposures (eg, infection, wound healing problems). Anterior minimally invasive procedures include laparoscopic and mini-open anterior lumbar interbody fusion as well as the lateral transpsoas and percutaneous presacral approaches. Posterior techniques...
متن کاملQuantitative evaluation of the lumbosacral sagittal alignment in degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis.
GOAL OF THE STUDY This study intends to develop a method of quantitative sagittal balance parameters assessment, based on a geometrical model of lumbar spine and sacrum. METHODS One hundred eight patients were divided into 2 groups. In the experimental group have been included 59 patients with lumbar spinal stenosis on L1-5 level. Forty-nine healthy volunteers without history of any lumbar sp...
متن کاملHybrid Instrumentation in Lumbar Spinal Fusion
Spondylodesis with transpedicular screw fixation is widely used for the treatment of different spine pathologies. Yet a potential conflict exists between the immediate benefit and later consequences or complications of this technique. The term adjacent segment degeneration is used to describe radiologic changes seen at levels adjacent to a previous spine fusion, which do not necessarily correla...
